The 10th Game Awards (presented by Geoff Keighley) aired this past Thursday, December 12th and it was definitely one to be remembered. There were several huge game announcements (eg: big sequels, multiple unexpected game series returning, and a brand new IP announcement from a prominent Sony 1st Party Developer), musical performances, and of course the awards themselves.

One of my favorite new additions was the “TGA Game Changer” award, which was given to Amir Satvat. Geoff described Amir as having “the well-being of the gaming community in his heart,” and that he has seen, “developers in need and did something truly extraordinary.” The award itself and the speech given by Amir really elevated the show (for me) to the next level. It focused on the gaming community itself, its struggles, what makes it unique, and what makes the individuals within it truly special. I hope to see this award continue for years to come.
